Telecom Operations Project Manager

Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid – Langley or Burnaby)
Duration: 8-Month Part-Time Contract (2–3 Days per Week)

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Telecom Operations Project Manager to support one of British Columbia's largest utility providers. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of operational technology and telecommunications initiatives that support critical transmission and distribution system operations.

Working within the Grid Telecom Operations team, you'll manage projects ranging from software upgrades and hardware refreshes to office renovations, network improvements, and change management initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders while delivering projects that support reliable utility operations across the province.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple telecom operations projects from planning through implementation and closeout.
• Coordinate software upgrades, hardware replacements, office renovations, network changes, and operational improvement initiatives.
• Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, financial forecasts, and status reports.
• Lead cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, vendors, and technical resources, through all phases of project delivery.
• Manage procurement activities, proof of concept (PoC) initiatives, implementation, testing, verification, and transition to operations.
• Track project risks, issues, actions, and decisions while maintaining RAID logs and project documentation.
• Facilitate project meetings, communicate project status, and ensure milestones are achieved.
• Manage financial reporting, including forecasts, actuals, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Ensure successful project handover through completion, acceptance, and operational transition activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 9 years of project management experience delivering medium to large, complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles, governance, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, and leadership skills.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Telecommunications operations experience.
• Telecommunications cybersecurity experience.
• Experience delivering operational technology (OT), infrastructure, or utility projects.
• Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation.
