About the Role

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Project Manager on behalf of our client, a leading general contractor, for a senior project leadership opportunity in Richmond.

This position is suited to an experienced construction Project Manager with a proven track record delivering major ICI projects valued at $100M+. The successful candidate will take ownership of project delivery from pre-construction through closeout, leading project teams while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, schedule, budget, contracts, and client relationships.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate project size and scope on their resume, including project values where possible.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Construction & Opportunity Management

• Lead proposal and bid responses with support from marketing and internal project teams.
• Lead project handover meetings with estimating and tendering teams.
• Establish project objectives, delivery strategies, and project management plans.
• Develop project schedules with the Superintendent and subcontractors using MS Project or Primavera P6.
• Establish critical path and sub-critical path logic and obtain client/subcontractor approval.
• Develop scopes of work, subcontract packages, cost-code allocations, and project controls.
• Lead subcontract award meetings and ensure scopes align with project requirements.
• Establish and maintain project safety, quality, environmental, and document-control plans.
• Ensure contracts, subcontracts, insurance, bonds, licences, and other required documentation are in place.

Construction Management

• Lead overall project delivery in accordance with established project delivery frameworks.
• Manage project financials, including forecasting, billing, payment approvals, and cost control.
• Establish and monitor master and look-ahead schedules.
• Coordinate weekly schedule updates with the Superintendent and project team.
• Review RFIs, shop drawings, change orders, and other project submissions.
• Lead regular client and owner-representative meetings and maintain detailed project records.
• Monitor project risks, outstanding issues, changes, conflicts, and deficiencies.
• Ensure construction complies with applicable federal, provincial, and municipal requirements.
• Maintain quality-control processes and ensure adherence to Inspection and Test Plans.
• Prepare monthly internal and external project reports.
• Ensure commercial terms and contractual obligations are consistently met.
• Mentor and provide direction to Project Coordinators and other direct reports.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Support commissioning, as-builts, deficiencies, and project closeout activities.

Post-Construction

• Lead resolution of deficiencies and warranty-related issues.
• Ensure contractual and financial completion of projects.
• Maintain client relationships throughout project closeout and warranty periods.

Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years of project management experience within a construction company.
• Proven experience as a Project Manager on major ICI projects valued at $100M+.
• Experience working for a General Contractor.
• Proven track record delivering major commercial and/or institutional building projects.
• Strong understanding of project delivery, constructability, and value-added construction processes.
• Experience with Construction Management, Design-Build, and Hard Bid contract models.
• Familiarity with Design-Bid-Build.
• Experience supporting major bids, including joint-venture opportunities, is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience managing project profitability, successful completion, and client relationships.
• Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Proficiency with relevant construction/project-management software such as MS Project, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, SAP, Microsoft Office, and electronic document management systems.
• Ability to work effectively with clients, owners, consultants, subcontractors, and site teams.

Physical & Site Requirements

• Ability to access active construction sites, including stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and uneven terrain.
• Comfortable working extended hours when required by project demands.
• Ability to work in varying and sometimes challenging weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits

• $140,000+ base salary, depending on experience
