MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Buyer on behalf of our client. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career procurement professional looking to build a long-term career within a large and growing organization. Working closely with Procurement Specialists and Procurement Managers, you’ll support sourcing activities, stakeholder relationships, and the purchase-to-pay process while gaining exposure to strategic procurement across a broad geographic region.

This role is ideal for someone who is curious, proactive, entrepreneurial, and eager to grow. The successful candidate will work directly with internal business partners, suppliers, and procurement leadership, making this an excellent stepping stone toward future Procurement Specialist and Procurement Manager opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Execute purchase-to-pay (P2P) activities in accordance with procurement policies and procedures.
• Review purchase requisitions and create purchase orders while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Support sourcing activities, supplier quotations, and competitive bidding processes.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for internal business stakeholders regarding procurement requests.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers to support operational requirements.
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms for local purchasing agreements where appropriate.
• Manage purchase order updates, invoice inquiries, and procurement documentation.
• Support procurement managers by collecting, organizing, and reporting procurement data.
• Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes and operational efficiencies.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and purchasing strategies.

Qualifications – Must-Haves

• 1+ year of experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics, or supply chain, or a recent graduate with relevant co-op or internship experience.
• Diploma, certificate, or degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and a strong desire to learn and grow within procurement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think beyond transactional purchasing.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience with SAP or another purchasing/ERP system is an asset.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience within construction, manufacturing, mining, building materials, or industrial environments.
• Exposure to sourcing, supplier negotiations, or procurement projects through work experience or co-op placements.
• Ability to analyze data and identify opportunities for cost savings or process improvements.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset through academic projects, internships, or professional experience.
• Experience supporting procurement activities beyond order processing or inventory management.
