MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for a Director of Pre-Construction on behalf of a well-established general contractor with a strong and growing project pipeline in Woodstock, Ontario.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who can lead major pursuits while remaining actively involved in estimating, pricing strategy, risk analysis and value engineering. The successful candidate will join a stable team and play a key role in supporting significant growth over the coming years.

Depending on level, the role will lead the Estimating team or oversee both Estimating and Pre-Construction Project Management. You will report directly to the VP of General Contracting and work closely with operations and business development teams to deliver competitive, profitable work.

What You’ll Do

• Lead estimating and pre-construction strategy for complex construction pursuits
• Remain hands-on with estimates, tender submissions, bid reviews, value engineering and risk analysis
• Mentor and lead a growing team of estimators and pre-construction professionals
• Partner with operations and business development on pursuits, client presentations and project handoffs
• Improve estimating processes, tools and reporting while maintaining strong commercial discipline
• Support projects ranging from approximately $1M to $120M+, including larger upcoming work

What You Bring

• 15+ years of GC estimating and pre-construction experience
• 5+ years of leadership experience preferred
• Strong commercial instincts and confidence making pricing and risk decisions
• Proven ability to lead experienced estimators while still rolling up your sleeves on the technical work
• Experience with LTC/retirement homes is highly preferred; wastewater, bridges/heavy civil, institutional, commercial, mid-rise or high-rise experience will also be considered
• Proficiency with estimating and pre-construction software such as OST, Bluebeam and Procore
