A growing civil contractor is seeking a Civil Site Superintendent to oversee complex underground and infrastructure projects across the Calgary region. This role is ideal for a strong field leader who can manage crews, drive site execution, maintain high safety standards, and coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

Projects include deep utility installations, wastewater and water infrastructure upgrades, linear distribution work, concrete scopes, and utility removals/replacements. The environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, with a strong emphasis on leadership, accountability, and operational discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily field operations across active civil construction sites
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to maintain schedule and productivity
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget
  • Maintain site documentation including safety records, inspections, daily reports, and timesheets
  • Interface with clients, consultants, inspectors, and municipal stakeholders professionally
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Foremen, and divisional leadership
  • Support workforce development through mentoring and coaching field staff
  • Identify and manage project risks, scope changes, and field issues proactively
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and winter estimating support as required
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OH&S standards and company procedures

What They’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of experience in civil construction supervision
  • Background in underground utilities, infrastructure, municipal, or heavy civil construction
  • Strong people leadership skills with the ability to gain crew buy-in and keep teams productive
  • Highly organized with strong planning and communication abilities
  • Experience working within structured, process-driven construction environments
  • Ability to manage paperwork, scheduling coordination, safety documentation, and field execution simultaneously
  • Comfortable working long hours and supporting fast-moving projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large civil contractors or major infrastructure projects
  • CSTS, Ground Disturbance, WHMIS, and First Aid certifications
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and incident investigations
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, schedules, and costing reports
  • GPS/layout experience considered an asset
  • Estimating exposure or interest is an asset
  • NCSO designation considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract

Compensation & Benefits

  • $120,000–$140,000 salary range
    OR
  • $45–$55/hour + overtime eligibility
