MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Director of Finance for a well-established real estate development organization operating across Western Canada.

The organization is composed of integrated business units across development, construction, and investment activities, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects. They are known for their entrepreneurial culture, collaborative leadership team, and commitment to operational excellence.

This is a key leadership role for an experienced finance professional with strong construction and/or real estate development experience. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly committed, and comfortable working full-time in-office in a fast-paced environment.

Location

Full-time, in-office (Western Canada)

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), working closely with the CEO and COO

Role Overview

The Director of Finance oversees core accounting, financial reporting, treasury support, and operational finance across a multi-entity development group.

This role supports execution of financial strategy, project-level performance management, construction finance activities, and maintenance of strong internal controls and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day finance, accounting, and reporting across multiple entities
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting packages
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Manage construction draw processes and project cash flow
• Maintain and review project proformas (development, rental, condo, land)
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and lender reporting requirements
• Support treasury functions, cash flow tracking, and payment approvals
• Oversee AP, payroll review, and financial operations processes
• Support lender reporting, financing submissions, and CMHC processes
• Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
• Support investor relations reporting and communications
• Oversee ERP systems (including Sage 300 CRE)
• Supervise and develop accounting and finance team 
• Support corporate structure management and compliance
• Assist with tax filings, audits, and regulatory matters
• Lead ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects

What We’re Looking For

• Progressive finance experience in real estate development, construction, or related industries
• CPA designation strongly preferred
• Experience in multi-entity environments
• Strong understanding of construction finance, project accounting, and cash flow
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
• ERP experience (Sage 300 CRE an asset)
• Strong leadership and team development skills
• Hands-on, collaborative, detail-oriented approach
• Ability to work full-time in-office in a fast-paced environment
