MatchBox Consulting Group is on the hunt for a Geologist in British Columbia’s northwest region. Our client is a leading mining company who endeavors to respectfully and responsibly develop their mining projects. 

As a Geologist, you will play a vital role in our exploration efforts, contributing to the identification and assessment of valuable coal resources. 

Responsibilities:

Exploration Programs

• Design, oversee, and execute geological mapping, sampling, and drilling campaigns.
• Analyze and interpret geological data to guide exploration initiatives.

Resource Statements

• Compile, analyze, and interpret data to produce reliable resource estimates.
• Regularly update resource statements based on new data and exploration findings.

Coal Quality Database

• Collect, analyze, and maintain data regarding the quality of coal reserves.
• Collaborate with the mining team to ensure efficient extraction based on coal quality.

Geochemistry Database

• Manage and maintain a comprehensive geochemistry database.
• Interpret geochemical data to provide insights into coal quality, extraction challenges, and potential hazards.

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in Geology; a postgraduate degree, specializing in exploration or mineral deposits would be advantageous. 
• Minimum 5+ years experience in mineral exploration with 2+ years specifically in coal.
• Experience developing geological models
• Ability to draft and interpret cross sections and level plans, and experience in using these to constrain 3D geologic models;
• Experience in the fundamentals of exploration: mapping (field and pit), litho sampling, soil sampling, drilling and logging (RC / DDH); 
• Good hands-on experience in the design and management of soil geochemistry and drilling programs;
• Geological/geochemical/geophysical interpretative and integration skills.
• Competence in [Leapfrog, ArcGIS, ioGas, acQuire] and other related software platform.
