MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer (E.I.T.) to join a growing geotechnical consulting team supporting land development and municipal infrastructure projects across the Greater Vancouver Area.

This is a unique opportunity for an early-career engineer to work closely with experienced geotechnical professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment. The successful candidate will gain exposure to both field and office-based engineering work, contributing to geotechnical investigations, design analysis, construction support, and technical reporting.

This position is fully remote within the Greater Vancouver Area, with monthly in-person team meetings and regular site visits throughout the region.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and executing geotechnical site investigations, including drilling programs and field reviews
  • Perform engineering analyses related to foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and earthworks
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, technical memoranda, and supporting documentation
  • Support construction activities through field inspections, QA/QC reviews, and site supervision
  • Coordinate with senior engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Assist with projects involving shoring systems, anchors, excavation support, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Participate in site visits and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Support engineering assessments and recommendations for land development and municipal infrastructure projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant geotechnical or civil engineering experience
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable access to a vehicle for travel within the Greater Vancouver Area

Assets

  • Experience with geotechnical software such as LPile or slope stability analysis programs
  • Experience supporting land development and/or municipal infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to retaining wall design, foundation engineering, earthworks, or excavation support systems
  • Field experience related to construction monitoring or geotechnical investigations

Additional Information

  • Fully remote role based within the Greater Vancouver Area
  • Monthly in-person team meetings required
  • Regular site visits and field inspections throughout the GVA
