A well-established mechanical engineering firm is urgently seeking a technically strong and proactive Intermediate Mechanical Engineer/Designer to join their busy Calgary office. This role is ideal for someone with solid HVAC and plumbing design experience, who thrives in a collaborative and detail-oriented environment, and is eager to contribute to a wide variety of exciting commercial, institutional, and multi-residential projects.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and layout HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems following codes and standards

• Perform load calculations and equipment selection

• Prepare construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit adhering to internal design standards

• Mentor and supervise junior mechanical designers and review their work

• Coordinate mechanical designs with other disciplines

• Assist with contract administration tasks such as RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and site visits

• Maintain project schedules and budgets alongside project managers

• Identify and communicate scope changes and additional service opportunities

Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology

• 3–4+ years of Canadian experience in mechanical system design, especially HVAC and plumbing

• Strong knowledge of heating, cooling, air handling, plumbing, and fire protection systems

• Familiarity with relevant Canadian codes and standards

• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam

• Ability to interpret construction drawings and produce detailed designs

• Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
