Matchbox Consulting Group is partnering with a well-established Alberta-based commercial general contractor looking for an Intermediate to Senior Estimator to join their Edmonton office.

Our client is a reputable, owner-operated commercial GC that has been delivering high-quality tenant improvement and commercial build-out projects across Alberta since 2002. Known for their strong trades relationships, family-oriented culture, and a deep portfolio of franchise and retail TI work — including hundreds of successful franchise location build-outs — this is a company that takes pride in doing things the right way. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Prepare detailed estimates and tenders for commercial tenant improvement projects ranging from $500K to $1M+.
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and scope coverage.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop comprehensive scope of work.
• Build and maintain relationships with local subcontractors and trades in both Edmonton and Calgary.
• Work closely with project management to ensure estimates align with execution realities.
• Identify risk, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives during the bid process.
• Support bid strategy and help develop competitive pricing approaches.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 3–10 years of estimating experience in commercial construction; TI project experience is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of the local subcontractor and trades landscape in Edmonton and Calgary.
• Experience estimating projects in the $500K–$1M range (larger project experience is a plus).
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a lean, collaborative office environment.
• Proficiency in standard estimating software and Microsoft Office.
