MatchBox is urgently seeking an IT Operations Manager for a 6-month contract (high probability of renewal) opportunity for our New Westminster based public sector client. This is a hybrid position (2x per week in office and 3 days remote)where candidates must be located in the lower mainland.  

Core Duties

The role is expected to support core technology operations and strategic initiatives through a range of operational, governance, and service management activities. Key areas of responsibility may include:

  • Cross-functional engagement and stakeholder coordination
  • Operational risk assessment and mitigation activities
  • Oversight of enterprise technology platforms and operational services
  • Service performance monitoring and process assurance
  • Staff supervision, coaching, and resource coordination
  • Third-party supplier and contract relationship management
  • Financial planning, expenditure tracking, and efficiency initiatives
  • Alignment of technology services with organizational priorities
  • Governance support, reporting, and initiative coordination
  • Operational standards development, KPI reporting, and service enhancement
  • Strategic advisory support and enterprise-wide collaboration

Must Haves

Candidates should possess a combination of education, leadership capability, and operational technology experience, including the following:

  • Degree or equivalent education in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience leading enterprise technology initiatives within large-scale or evolving organizations, including at least four (4) years in a formal leadership capacity.
  • Exposure to regulated, public-service, or highly structured organizational environments is considered beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise technology operations, support services, and infrastructure management practices.
  • Experience overseeing operational budgets, financial forecasting, cost tracking, and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to align operational spending with strategic business outcomes and service priorities.
  • Experience managing external service providers, contractual relationships, and vendor accountability processes.
  • Proven success collaborating with partners and suppliers to address service issues, maintain performance expectations, and support ongoing operational improvements.
  • Familiarity with governance frameworks, reporting structures, and documentation standards within enterprise technology programs.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience consolidating information from multiple operational sources to support informed decision-making and service optimization.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in fast-moving environments.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to prepare business and technical documentation for varied audiences.
  • Proficiency with standard productivity and collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Office applications and related enterprise collaboration tools.
  • Experience using project coordination and document management platforms within a Microsoft-based environment.
