About the Role

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Material Coordinator to support a major energy infrastructure client in Calgary. This role is responsible for coordinating the end-to-end flow of materials required for capital projects, ensuring equipment and materials are available when and where they are needed to keep projects on schedule. This is a 12 month contract position.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Warehousing, and Construction teams, you’ll play a key role in material planning, procurement coordination, inventory management, and project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate material requirements for multiple capital projects from planning through construction.
  • Develop material procurement schedules based on project timelines and supplier lead times.
  • Review engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify project material requirements.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure timely issuance of RFQs and material orders.
  • Create purchase requisitions, inventory reservations, and material master requests within SAP.
  • Monitor material deliveries, inventory levels, and material status throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, expediting, logistics, warehousing, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure materials are delivered on schedule.
  • Track and resolve material shortages, delivery delays, quality concerns, and documentation issues.
  • Maintain accurate material status reports and project tracking documentation.
  • Coordinate warehouse releases, material transfers, goods receipts, and surplus material disposition.
  • Support construction teams by providing material documentation and coordinating site deliveries.

Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in material coordination, material management, purchasing, logistics, or supply chain within project environments.
  • Experience supporting projects in the oil & gas, pipeline, utilities, or power industries.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials and equipment used on pipeline or facility projects.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Proficiency with SAP, including purchase requisitions and goods receipt processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with piping materials, valves, fittings, and mechanical equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience supporting large capital infrastructure projects.
