Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a Procurement Professional to work on a 1-year contract with very high potential of renewal, for one of BC's largest utility and energy companies! This individual will provide leadership and guidance to client groups in sourcing, procuring, and managing goods and services with high value, complexity, or risk impacts, while also leading evaluation teams through sourcing, negotiation, and contract transitioning stages. They will monitor procurement processes to ensure compliance with policies, develop relationships internally and externally, determine sourcing methods, maintain procurement integrity, potentially manage contracts, and contribute to business process improvements for operational efficiency within the organization's procurement function.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and plan the implementation of category and/or sourcing strategies or related work packages by using excellent skills in communication, analysis, critical thinking, planning/project management, supplier/market research, problem-solving, and facilitation of decision-making in a large and complex organization.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and advice to client groups within the line of business in sourcing, procuring, and managing a wide range of goods and services, particularly those with high value, high complexity, and/or high financial or political risk impacts.
  • Lead cross-functional evaluation teams through the sourcing, vendor negotiation, and contract transitioning stages.
  • Monitor processes with end-users to ensure services and materials are purchased effectively and in accordance with policies and directives across the organization. 
  • Develop relationships with key contacts at all levels within the organization and external 
  • Accountable for determining appropriate sourcing methods, including the preparation and evaluation of contracting documents such as project procurement strategies, contracting plan, RFP's, RFEI's, RFSQ's, and RFQ’s.
  • Accountable for maintaining integrity of Hydro's procurement practices.
  • May be required to manage the subsequent contracts.
  • May provide work direction to a team of procurement analysts and administrative support staff.
  • Participates in the identification and development of business process improvements to enhance operational efficiency within the Business Group's procurement and sourcing function.

Requirements:

  • A minimum eight (8) years progressive Supply Chain Management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field such as Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain or in an equivalent field
  • Able to handle moderate to complex contracting and negotiations work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with government/public procurement, IT Procurement and, the various Canadian free trade agreements is preferred.
