Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Engineer- Transmission Lines to work on a 9-month contract with very high potential of renewal, for one of BC’s largest utility and energy companies.

The Engineer is a professional engineer or geoscientist who applies engineering knowledge to provide innovative engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium to high complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.

Responsibilities:

• Support capital projects (primarily Transmission Overhead Line) to perform safety, workability, and maintainability input to the design as an extension to the Human Factors and Work Methods team 
• Familiar with energized work methods and tools and equipment for Transmission overhead line work
• Develop 3D models for work simulation to access live line workability / maintainability / clearances requirements
• Assist capital projects in delivery of job hazard assessments and energized work procedures, rigging, fall protection and rescue plans and any special / custom tools (i.e. yolks) in accordance with internal established processes and practices, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
• Prepare project documentation and deliverables in accordance with project and Engineering Design Practices (i.e. evaluation reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis’, calculations, hazard logs, test plans).
• Prepare design work packages including scope, duration, and level of effort estimates.
• Prepare signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record (PoR) in accordance with EGBC 
• Provide technical assistance and construction support in the field, and undertake field reviews as required by EGBC.

Requirements:

• A  minimum four (4) years years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
• Prefer to have an Engineering degree (preferably electrical, integrated, electro-mechanical engineering, then mechanical, civil and others) recognized by universities in Canada 
• P.Eng 
• Excellent Verbal and communication skills
• Presentation Skills

Nice to have:

• Experience in transmissions, overhead lines design
• Experience with 3D modelling 
• Trade certification in Transmission O/H line work or construction 
• experience in work practices on power system, risk assessment and safety processes
