Travelling Mass Timber Site Leaders

Lead Hands, Foremen, Site Supervisors and Superintendents

MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, a recognized leader in mass timber design, fabrication, and construction, for experienced field professionals to support major projects across the United States.

This is an opportunity to work on some of North America’s most technically interesting mass timber structures, including large-scale commercial, institutional, and architecturally significant projects.

The Opportunity

You will join an experienced project team responsible for delivering complex mass timber installations throughout the United States.

The work involves structural installation, site coordination, erection planning, lifting and logistics, trade coordination, safety, quality control, and daily project execution.

Candidates may be based anywhere in Canada, provided they are comfortable travelling regularly to US project sites.

What You Will Do

Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Lead or support mass timber installation activities

  • Coordinate site crews, subcontractors, and trade partners

  • Review drawings, installation plans, and project specifications

  • Support erection sequencing, logistics, and material planning

  • Coordinate crane-assisted lifts and structural installation activities

  • Monitor project schedules, productivity, quality, and safety

  • Complete daily reports and project documentation

  • Communicate with project managers, consultants, clients, and site stakeholders

  • Lead by example and contribute to a professional, team-oriented site culture

  • Ensure installations meet design, schedule, and quality requirements

What We Are Looking For

You may come from a background in:

  • Mass timber construction

  • Glulam or CLT installation

  • Heavy timber construction

  • Structural steel erection

  • Commercial carpentry

  • Institutional construction

  • Complex structural installation

  • Rigging and lifting operations

  • Crane-assisted erection

  • Commercial or industrial construction

You should also bring:

  • Strong field construction experience

  • The ability to read drawings and specifications

  • A solid understanding of site safety

  • Comfort working at heights and around lifting operations

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A willingness to travel extensively

  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to construction

Direct mass timber experience is highly valued, but strong candidates from structural steel, heavy timber, commercial carpentry, or complex structural construction backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

Travel Rotation

Most project work is located in the United States, with projects ranging from short-term installations to assignments lasting several months.

The standard rotation provides regular scheduled travel home. Flights, accommodation, and project-related travel costs are covered.

You do not need to relocate permanently and can be based anywhere in Canada.

Compensation

This is a strong hourly compensation package with:

  • Competitive base hourly rates

  • A substantial premium while working on active project sites

  • Overtime paid at the applicable premium rate

  • Flights and travel costs covered

  • Accommodation provided

  • Strong annual earning potential

  • Opportunities for longer-term growth into senior site leadership and project management

Compensation will vary based on experience and level, with opportunities available from experienced field installation professionals through senior Site Superintendent level.
