Supply Chain Professional

Location: Burnaby, BC (Edmonds – Hybrid)
Duration: 12-Month Contract

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Supply Chain Professional to support one of British Columbia's largest utility providers. This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional with experience in strategic sourcing, category management, and competitive procurement who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

In this role, you'll lead end-to-end sourcing activities, develop procurement strategies, manage competitive bid processes, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver best-value procurement solutions while ensuring compliance with public procurement policies and governance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities from project intake through contract award and purchase order execution.

  • Develop sourcing and category management strategies aligned with business objectives.

  • Review purchase requisitions and recommend the most appropriate sourcing approach.

  • Conduct supplier market analysis and identify qualified suppliers.

  • Prepare and manage competitive procurement documents, including RFQs and related contracting documentation.

  • Coordinate competitive sourcing events, bidder communications, and clarifications.

  • Lead commercial bid evaluations and support technical evaluation teams.

  • Prepare award recommendations and contract documentation.

  • Facilitate purchase order creation and ensure compliance with procurement and financial approval processes.

  • Build strong relationships with project teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders.

  • Identify sourcing risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement processes and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 5 years of procurement, sourcing, or category management experience.

  • Strong understanding of strategic sourcing and category management principles.

  • Experience leading competitive procurement processes and supplier evaluations.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience using SAP, including purchase requisition (PR) and purchase order (PO) processing.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with public sector procurement and governance.

  • Knowledge of Indigenous procurement frameworks and supplier engagement.

  • Experience supporting infrastructure, capital projects, or utility operations.

  • Familiarity with supplier market analysis and strategic sourcing best practices.

  • Experience working within a large, complex organization.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid position based in Burnaby (Edmonds), BC.

  • Two to three days per week in the office.

  • Occasional travel to other office locations for meetings may be required.
