MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Technical Product Owner for a 6-month contract role with a client of ours located in Burnaby (Hybrid set-up-2 days per week on-site and 3 days remote).

Key Duties

Product Backlog Management
 

• Collaborate with Product and Digital teams to build and administer the backlog ensuring that critical tasks are prioritized for the internal and offsite development teams
• Create clear technical epics and user stores for new initiatives and to enhance existing AWS workflows
• Ensure non-functional requirements are identified and incorporated into the product roadmap

Technical Documentation and Communication
 

• Produce and maintain technical documentation and analysis for product features, user-stories and workflows
• Facilitate clear communication between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring everyone is informed and aligned

Process Improvement
 

• Continuously evaluate and improve product development processes, driving efficiencies to delivering higher value
• Leverage feedback and data to recommend process adjustments and operational improvements

Delivery Coordination
 

• Coordinate internal team deliverables ensuing alignment amongst stakeholders and the timely delivery of results
• Track in progress items and timelines, ensuring iterations keep moving forward

Required Skills
 

• Degree in Computer Science, information systems, business administration or equivalent experience
• 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, business analyst, business systems analyst or product management role
• 2 years of experience in an agile delivery environment managing a blend of technical and business responsibilities
• Experience working with software projects with a sold understanding of backlog management best practices
• Identify non-functional requirements (eg, security, scalability performance) and evaluate SaaS applications
• Excellent Communication Skills (communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders)
• Ability to prioritize and manage a product backlog, creating clear epics, stories and tasks
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a creative approach to addressing challenges
• Self -starter with a track record of delivering results in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Preferred Skills
 

• Experience with Agile Methodologies and tools (JIRA and Confluence)
• Previous experience with Cloud based solutions (Ideally AWS)
• Previous Insurance industry experience
• Communication tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Segment, Mailgun, Payment Processing Solutions
