Electrical Designer / EIT — Underground
Power & Utility Infrastructure | Lower Mainland, BC

Utility infrastructure across British Columbia is growing in complexity. Underground utility systems are being extended, upgraded, and engineered to support critical railway, river, and highway crossings.

We are seeking an Electrical Design Technologist or EIT to join a technical team delivering hands-on utility infrastructure design work. This role places you directly on complex crossing projects where your designs move from engineering through to construction.

This is a practical, detail-oriented design role focused on underground utility infrastructure and crossing design projects across the Lower Mainland.

What You'll Work On

You will contribute to the engineering and delivery of underground utility projects, including:

  • Underground utility design for infrastructure projects
  • Railway, river, and highway crossing design and documentation
  • Preparation of detailed design packages using PLS-CADD
  • Application of relevant utility standards and project specifications
  • Coordination with internal engineering and project delivery teams
  • Supporting design development from concept through construction-ready packages

This role offers a combination of technical design work, complex crossing projects, and real infrastructure delivery.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking designers and engineers who want to build a long-term career in utility infrastructure and underground distribution.

Required

  • EIT designation or engineering technology background
  • 5+ years of relevant utility design experience
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with PLS-CADD
  • Experience producing detailed design packages for utility infrastructure projects
  • Practical, detail-oriented approach to design work

Assets

  • BC Hydro project experience
  • Experience with railway, river, or highway crossing projects
  • Experience in utility consulting or infrastructure engineering environments
  • Background in underground electrical or utility design

The ideal candidate is technically strong, practical, and comfortable producing detailed design work on projects that move into construction.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Underground utility design is a highly sought-after discipline as utilities across BC continue to invest in complex crossing and grid infrastructure. Designers and EITs with real project experience on technical, delivery-focused work are in strong demand.

This opportunity offers:

  • Work on complex underground distribution and crossing design projects
  • Exposure to high-impact utility infrastructure across the Lower Mainland
  • Experience with a firm whose pedigree opens doors across the full Transmission &Distribution space
  • Hybrid work model with 1–2 days per week in office
  • WFH equipment allowance, benefits, RPP matching, and profit-sharing

If you want to work on projects that matter and build deep expertise in underground distribution infrastructure, this role offers a compelling next step.
