Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking an Compensation and Benefits Specialist for our client, a well know company based in North Vancouver. A leader in their industry, they are looking to bring in an experienced individual to play a key role within their human resources team. 

Responsibilities:
Compensation

  • Responsible for the full-cycle processing of bi-monthly payroll for 90+ employees.  ? Manage payroll processes, reconciliations, and communication with payroll provider (UKG).  
  • Process Records of Employment (ROEs) and required payroll remittances accurately and on a timely basis.  
  • Performs annual payroll balancing at year-end for T4 preparation.  
  • Ensure tax, CPP and EI deductions are accurate based on insurable earnings and relaying required data to complete the payroll remittance process.
  • Prepare T4 and other taxation forms as required.  
  • Advise and assist employees with completing government documents and processes TD1s as required.
  • Communicate changes in payroll policies to team members.  
  • Track and reconcile time-off (vacation, leaves, etc.) requests and records.  
  • Design and implement functionality for HRIS to ensure alignment and accuracy to organizational practices.  
  • Handle and track compensation program, such as fitness benefits  
  • Generate and provide employees with annual total rewards statements and reports.  
  • Analyze payroll data and provide reports as requested by management to manage compensation, prepare budgets etc.  

Benefits

  • Process benefits enrollment and oversee all benefit plans administration.  
  • Communicate with employees and benefits provider to gather necessary information for claims processing.  
  • Handle pension related inquiries from employees and retirees.  
  • Provide timely communication to pension provider.  
  • Provide guidance and support to employees in understanding benefits, including disability leave processes.  

Administration

  • Onboard new employees to HRIS, payroll and benefits systems.  
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate policy, employment contracts and applicable laws.
  • Provide support to HR-related and Finance-related projects that require reports and data analysis.  
  • Participate in third-party data collection analysis projects, such as pay equity, environmental scans and audits.  
  • Assist with HR projects and improvement initiatives.  

Qualifications:

  • 3 years+ of payroll, compensation and benefits administration experience.  
  • 3 years+ of HR administration experience, great understanding and knowledge of HR best practices, particularly in compensation and benefits.  
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems, particularly UKG.
  • Experience working with confidential information.  
  • Experience working with federally regulated employer and sound knowledge of the Canada Labour Code.  
  • Experience in Finance/Accounting.
