Construction Safety Officer

On behalf of our developer-builder client, Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a Construction Safety Officer with high-rise experience looking to add exciting projects to their portfolio!

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Provide safety training and education to employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety awareness.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Monitor and enforce safety policies and procedures on construction sites, including the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safe work practices.
• Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to address safety concerns and promote a safe working environment for all employees.

Requirements:

• Possession of a valid CSO certification from a recognized institution or equivalent.
• OFA 2 or higher required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction safety management or a related field.
• Thorough understanding of local and national safety regulations and standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate employees on safety procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to conduct thorough safety inspections and audits.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Procore an asset.
