About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Contracts Administrator to take ownership of the full lifecycle of contracts across a diverse construction project portfolio. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this individual will serve as the central point of accountability for prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and consultant agreements from project award through close-out.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of Canadian construction contracts, risk management, and contract administration best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage Prime Contracts (including CCDC 2, CCDC 5B, CCDC 14, and supplementary conditions), ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations and requirements.
- Prepare, execute, and administer CCA-1 Subcontract Agreements, including scope reviews, bonding requirements, insurance verification, and subcontractor compliance documentation.
- Issue and manage Purchase Orders, engineering agreements, consultant contracts, and other service agreements from award through project completion.
- Lead the change management process, including preparation, pricing review, negotiation, documentation, and execution of owner and subcontractor change orders.
- Prepare and submit contractual notices related to delays, disruptions, differing site conditions, and other contractual matters within required timelines.
- Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for potential claims, disputes, and contract negotiations.
- Support monthly progress billings, statutory declarations, holdback releases, substantial performance certifications, and project close-out activities.
- Maintain and update the master contracts register, tracking key milestones, obligations, deliverables, renewals, and critical dates across active projects.
- Review contract terms and conditions, identify potential risks and exposures, and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel and project stakeholders on contractual matters when required.
- Support continuous improvement of contract administration processes, templates, and documentation standards.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of contract administration experience within the Canadian construction industry, preferably in a general contracting environment.
- Hands-on experience administering CCDC contracts (particularly CCDC 2, CCDC 5B, and/or CCDC 14).
- Working knowledge of CCA-1 Subcontracts and subcontract administration practices.
- Strong understanding of the BC Builders Lien Act, construction contract principles, and risk management practices.
- Experience managing change orders, claims documentation, notices, and contract compliance requirements.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, professional, and defensible contractual correspondence.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience using construction management software such as Procore, Viewpoint, or similar platforms is considered an asset.
- CCCA designation (or actively pursuing designation) is considered an asset.
What’s Offered
- Opportunity to play a key role in contract administration across a growing portfolio of construction projects.
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic project decision-making.
- Collaborative and professional work environment.
- Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
- Long-term career growth opportunities within a well-established organization.
