About the Role

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer (E.I.T.) to join a growing geotechnical consulting firm delivering practical, cost-effective engineering solutions across Western Canada. This is a fully remote position based in the Greater Vancouver Area, with monthly in-person team meetings and regular site visits and inspections across the GVA.

This is a unique opportunity for an early-career engineer to learn directly alongside experienced geotechnical professionals in a close-knit team environment. You’ll gain hands-on exposure across both field and design work on a diverse portfolio of land development and municipal infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in planning and executing geotechnical site investigations, including drilling programs and field reviews
• Perform engineering analyses related to foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks
• Prepare geotechnical reports and technical memoranda
• Support construction activities through field inspections, QA/QC, and site supervision
• Coordinate with senior engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams on active projects spanning shoring, anchoring, slope stability, excavation management, and infrastructure upgrades

What We’re Looking For (Must-Haves)

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
• Registered (or eligible) as an E.I.T. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
• 2+ years of relevant geotechnical or civil engineering experience
• Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills — this is the top priority for this role
• Strong technical writing and analytical abilities
• Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle for site visits in the GVA

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., LPile, slope stability programs)
• Familiarity with land development and/or municipal infrastructure projects
