MatchBox Consulting group is seeking a Hydrotechnical Design Engineer in Kelowna, BC. Our client is a consulting firm based in British Columbia, renowned for their expertise in civil and environmental engineering, geotechnical services, and natural resource management. With a commitment to innovation and sustainability, they deliver tailored solutions for infrastructure projects, land development, and environmental conservation throughout the province.

Responsibilities

• Participate in dam safety reviews, hydraulic structure design, hydrology, and numerical flow modeling, as well as floodplain assessments and mapping.
• Design sedimentation/detention ponds, channel stabilization, culverts, and erosion protection work to support infrastructure projects and river engineering.
• Utilize standard computer hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software packages such as SWIMM, HYFRAN, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-7, and FLO-2D for analysis and design.
• Manage multiple projects independently from proposal stage through conceptual design, detailed design, and construction, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
• Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and contracting firms throughout British Columbia, demonstrating strong communication skills and contributing to business development initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil or water resources engineering with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
• Proficiency in standard computer hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as SWIMM, HYFRAN, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-7, and FLO-2D.
• Demonstrated previous project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
• Strong work ethic, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
