Matchbox Consulting Group is looking for a Project Coordinator for one of our most reputable and respected clients, a leader in the construction industry in Western Canada.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and Superintendent in any delegated tasks. They will handle day-to-day decision making within the span of control and accountability, using resources as required to accomplish given tasks. Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in tendering, negotiating and preparation of trade contracts and purchase agreements not provided by pre-construction services as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Ongoing monitoring and processing of plans, specifications, shop drawings and other submittals in accordance with company procedure
  • Review, action and response on daily project correspondence. Action and completion of project issues from incoming communications through to filing of completed items as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Receipt, logging and distribution of drawings, specifications, shop drawings, colour schedules, contemplated change orders, change orders, site instructions, consultant reports, concrete tests and material tests, inspection reports and RFI’s (requests for information), in accordance with standard procedures as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Secure pricing, issue Purchase Orders, and enter Purchase Order information for all required materials as directed by the Superintendent in accordance with company procedure
  • Preparation and maintenance of concrete log on a regular basis as delegated by the Superintendent.
  • Assist in the monthly Cost Forecast.
  • Field inspection of the assigned job site on a regular basis as required ensuring compliance with requirements of the construction contract as delegated by the Superintendent.
  • Attend as required bi-weekly Sub-Trade Meetings as requested by the Superintendent.
  • Prepare minutes of Sub-Trade meetings and other such meetings as may be requested by the Superintendent.
  • Prepare, monitor, update and track the Construction Schedule in accordance with Standard Procedure for Scheduling as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Identifying, logging, providing proper notice for and the preparation and pricing of Construction Cost and Delay Claims as required ensuring compliance with the construction contract as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Receipt, distribution, timely pricing of contemplated change orders including logging of same as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Authorization and processing of Prime Contract and Sub-Contract Change Orders and updating of the Change Order Control Sheet in accordance with Standard Procedure for Cost and Change Order Control as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate and obtain occupancy and substantial completion certificates as delegated by the Project Manager and/or Superintendent.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a project coordinator
  • Experience with high-rises (residential and/or mixed use), institutional, commercial, and/or industrial projects
  • Education/background in construction and/or the trades is an asset
  • Ability to learn and grow quickly
  • Good understanding of project stages and delivery methods
