On behalf of our client, a multi-provincial construction general contractor, MatchBox Consulting Group is searching for an experienced construction Project Manager in Vancouver. This candidate must have commercial and institutional new build project experience. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:

    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor and track project progress, making adjustments as necessary to ensure adherence to project milestones.
  2. Budgeting and Cost Management:

    • Prepare accurate project cost estimates and budgets.
    • Monitor project expenditures and track costs throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to minimize expenses.
    • Review and approve project invoices and ensure timely payment to contractors and vendors.
  3. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

    • Lead a team of construction professionals, including contractors, subcontractors, and on-site staff.
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting effective communication and problem-solving.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting their professional growth and development.
  4. Quality Control and Compliance:

    • Implement and enforce quality control standards, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices.
    • Conduct regular inspections to monitor construction progress and verify adherence to specifications.
    • Address any issues or deviations promptly, taking corrective action to maintain quality standards.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
  5. Client Relations and Stakeholder Management:

    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their inquiries and concerns.
    • Provide regular project updates to clients and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and maintaining positive relationships.
    • Manage client expectations and negotiate changes to project scope, schedule, and budget as necessary.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for additional business with existing clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related diploma.
  • Proven 5+ years of experience as a Construction Project Manager, preferably in the commercial construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
