Supply Chain Professional
Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid), Vernon, BC, or Remote
Duration: 12-Month Contract
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Professional (Category Lead) to support one of British Columbia's largest utility companies. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic sourcing professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys developing category strategies, leading sourcing initiatives, and building strong stakeholder relationships.
The successful candidate will support complex sourcing and category management activities while partnering with internal business units to deliver strategic procurement outcomes across engineering and infrastructure programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies that align with organizational objectives.
- Lead and support strategic sourcing initiatives, including multi-stage RFPs and RFIs.
- Conduct supplier and market analysis to identify opportunities for value creation and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Prepare business cases, leadership briefing materials, and sourcing recommendations.
- Lead contract negotiations, supplier engagement activities, and sourcing strategy execution.
- Support supplier relationship management initiatives and resolve contract or supplier performance issues.
- Provide expert guidance on sourcing best practices, procurement strategies, and category management.
- Analyze procurement data and develop recommendations to support informed business decisions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 10 years of sourcing, category management, or strategic procurement experience.
- Experience developing sourcing strategies and managing competitive procurement processes, including RFPs and RFIs.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong business writing skills with experience preparing executive briefing documents.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and comfortable working in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Operational supply chain experience.
- Experience working within large, complex organizations.
- Experience with public procurement platforms such as BC Bid.
- Experience supporting infrastructure, engineering, utilities, energy, or capital project procurement.
- Additional education or certification in Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Change Management, Facilitation, or Communications.
Work Environment
- Hybrid work arrangement available for candidates based in Burnaby.
- Candidates located in Vernon will also be considered.
- Remote candidates may be considered if located within one hour of the Pacific Time Zone and able to work PST hours.
