Our energy client is looking for a Security Communications and Training Specialist to design and deliver training programs on social engineering and and human risk reduction – TCJP00022020
Initially 12-month contract with chances of extension or convert to FTE. 3 days onsite/week in Calgary.
Responsibilities:
- Produce executive-ready communications — decks, briefs, and packages going to the VP and board. Responsibility includes technical accuracy, proofreading for errors, and polish. This is a quality control role as much as a production role.
- Design and deliver training programs and roadshows across the organization on social engineering and human risk reduction. Work is both board-level presentation and mass-audience training delivery — two different communication registers in one role.
- Partner with the existing social engineering specialist to deliver integrated human risk communications. You will not own the technical simulation work, but you must back up the existing specialist when workload requires it and speak credibly about how the program works.
- Pull, analyze, and present metrics and reporting data for board-level review.
- Spot flaws in data, ensure accuracy, translate raw metrics into clear narratives that leadership can act on.
- Work as administrator for the new social engineering platform the team is implementing — currently being selected from available options. Training content will be produced through this tool.
- Navigate a large, cross-functional organization. You will work directly with the VP frequently, coordinate with Communications, OCM, project teams, and leadership across multiple business units and enterprise security
Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication skills — both written and verbal. Must produce executive-ready materials that are polished, error-free, and clear. Proofreading and quality control are explicit expectations.
- Ability to articulate risk and complex cybersecurity concepts without fear-mongering. Must translate technical concepts into calm, actionable language for non-technical audiences. Must break complexity into manageable units and present clear plans of action.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint — required. Candidates produce all training and executive communications in this format.
- Comfort with data analysis and reporting. Must be able to pull, analyze, and present metrics to board-level stakeholders. SQL capability is a strong differentiator but not required.
- Cybersecurity or human risk literacy — enough to hold credible conversations about social engineering, threat landscape, and why human risk reduction matters. Not a technical role, but must speak the language.
- Ability to absorb feedback and rework materials quickly without friction. The VP changes direction frequently and material can be subjective. Candidates who require extensive sign-off cycles or who take rework personally will fail in the role.
Nice to have:
- Experience delivering training across diverse audiences — from executives to end users.
- Background in security communications, cybersecurity awareness, or related compliance/risk communication programs.
- Familiarity with social engineering platforms (Doppel, Mirage, KnowBe4, Proofpoint, or equivalents) — the team is implementing a new platform and this experience is valuable.
- Project or program communications experience in a regulated or complex environment.
- Comfort with AI tools for content creation and presentation enhancement — the team uses AI in day-to-day work.
- Energy, utilities, or critical infrastructure sector background
