MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting for a Production Manager to support operations within a heavy industrial production manufacturing environment in Nova Scotia.

This role will lead production activities at the plant level, focusing on safety, operational performance, production planning, team leadership, and day-to-day execution. The successful candidate will work closely with the Plant Manager, maintenance, sales, logistics, and production teams to ensure the plant operates safely, efficiently, and in line with business requirements.

This position is well suited to a hands-on production leader with experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, who is comfortable working in a fully onsite, unionized, operations-driven setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day production operations at the plant level, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
  • Manage and support production supervisors across shift-based operations.
  • Drive production performance against budget, cost, KPI, and operational targets.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all production activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Work closely with maintenance to support equipment reliability, housekeeping, industrial cleaning, and reduction of operational issues.
  • Participate in annual budget planning, monthly financial reviews, forecasting, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with sales, logistics, and internal teams to meet market demand and quality objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement, change management, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Build team capability through coaching, accountability, succession planning, and compliance with the collective agreement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of heavy industrial manufacturing production experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive production management experience.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Strong understanding of production operations, budgets, cost control, plant reliability, and operational performance.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead teams, delegate effectively, and drive accountability.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and change management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an older, complex industrial plant environment.
  • Experience in cement manufacturing is considered a strong asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and SAP is an asset.
  • Ability to follow all site safety protocols, including use of required PPE.
